Social Media can also be used to inform people about things the government would really rather the lower orders didn't get to find out about. Do you really believe that government control of all sources of 'information' would be a good thing? Have you heard of Volkischer Beobachter, or Pravda?

That was probably the most inept performance I have ever seen from a senior government minister, let alone a 'Secretary of State,' even by the standards of this 'government.' It does, however, perhaps explain why someone like David Lammy is regarded as an intellectual giant. Just look at the competition.

Can you truly not see how those in power will exploit the authority it would give them? Compulsory euthanasia would, inevitably, soon follow. Just imagine how CEOS of NHS Trusts would leap on the opportunity to free up a few beds! When someone is given authority, however slight, they will immediately abuse it.

He then became assistant to James Purnell again, before being parachuted into a parliamentary seat in 2010. He has precisely no experience of, nor any apparent interest in, the the workings of the private sector. In fact, the ideal man to be Business Secretary. Someone with no knowledge of it.

Perhaps you think your belief that 'it doesn't affect me personally so I don't care' is acceptable, but many people, myself included, have more sympathy. Do you really seek to argue that, because some do not need the allowance, then everyone, even those marginally above the benefits limit, should no longer receive it?

Perhaps that was why people who had approved of being part of a trading organisation had grave misgivings about being a minor part of a European Empire? Income Tax was introduced by William Pitt the Younger as a 'temporary measure' to pay for weapons during the time of the French Revolutionary War, in 1799. Last time I looked, the mortal threat from the French Consulate & from Boney had rather diminished, yet Income Tax remains.

  46. Yet another Minister whose entire career has been in politics, and who is now Treasury MInister, despite a total lack of actual knowledge outside the circus of local councils. He was also an advisor to the much-loved Sadiq Khan. As the son of a Labour Councillor, he did, of course, attend a private school. Maria Gruber, Irene Leidolf, Stephanija Meyer, and Waltraud Wagner were four Austrian women who worked as nurse's aides at the Geriatriezentrum am Wienerwald in Lainz, Vienna, and who murdered scores of patients between 1983 and 1989. The group killed their victims with overdoses of morphine or by forcing water into the lungs. They began by 'assisting the deaths' of terminally ill patients. However, it seems that they gradually found that the power of life and death excited, and ended up by terminating any patients who became nuisances, even if the nuisance was little more than asking for a drink in the night. If you give such powers to authority figures, they will, as authority figures do, inevitably abuse them, and you may well end up with compulsory euthanasia. All to benefit the victim, and for the greater good of 'society' of course. Doubtless, there will be a host of checks & balances, all of which will be quietly eroded in the course of time.
