@Popsickle34 Why do you think I am 'personally disadvantaged' as I am not? I do, however, know a number of elderly people who are seriously worried. Perhaps you think your belief that 'it doesn't affect me personally so I don't care' is acceptable, but many people, myself included, have more sympathy. Do you really seek to argue that, because some do not need the allowance, then everyone, even those marginally above the benefits limit, should no longer receive it?

But from the point of view of the Dear Leader and Rachel from Accounts, isn't it a win-win? So a few pensioners die? Fewer potential non-Labour voters, and less to pay out in pensions. Brilliant news for the public sector Labour core vote, isn't it?

@paulbird3235 I don't recall the evil Tories doing away with the winter fuel allowance, which was originally introduced by Labour, yet, despite no mention in any manifesto, Rachel from Accounts did that almost immediately. I thought her plans were 'fully costed?'
