  1. Ed & Missus Ed might like the idea of a system where only one point of view is permitted, and the Party dictates what people are allowed to hear, read, and think, but the fact is that many of we little people are not really enamoured of the idea.

  2.  @MichaelCowling-jt4qk  Of course Social Media can be used to spread misinformation, just as newspapers and broadcasters can. Social Media can also be used to inform people about things the government would really rather the lower orders didn't get to find out about. Do you really believe that government control of all sources of 'information' would be a good thing? Have you heard of Volkischer Beobachter, or Pravda?

  3. Isn't it interesting how 'only temporary' measures have a tendency to become permanent? Income Tax was introduced by William Pitt the Younger as a 'temporary measure' to pay for weapons during the time of the French Revolutionary War, in 1799. Last time I looked, the mortal threat from the French Consulate & from Boney had rather diminished, yet Income Tax remains.
