Whilst the Nationalism being posted on here is quite fascinating, how about a calmer approach? Such as :- A popular view is that "Everybody is happy with the outcome of the war. Americans are happy because they think they won, the Canadians are happy because they know they won and avoided being swallowed up by the United States, and the British are happiest because they've forgotten all about it".

@TheIceman567 Calm down, gentlemen! The Canadian historian C. P. Stacey once remarked that the War of 1812 is ‘an episode in history that makes everybody happy, because everybody interprets it differently’. Americans believe they gave their former mother country a good drumming, Canadians pride themselves in turning back ‘the massed might of the United States’, and ‘the English are happiest of all, because they don’t even know it happened’.

Unlikely. The American Revolution came about because the British government believed that the colonists should pay some of the costs of the Seven Years' War ( The French & Indian War) whereas colonial leaders (mainly, I believe, with English ancestry. Tom Paine, who wrote 'Common Sense' was born in Thetford, Norfolk, for example) argued that the Colonies should have representation in Parliament if they were to be taxed. There was some merit in both arguments, and had the British had a more competent Prime Minister than Lord North (to give American readers some idea, he was probably even more inept than the appalling Theresa May, of unlamented memory!) then a compromise could probably have been reached.
