chadz393 Exactly! I'm also kind skeptic...seems like another dietary fad. I'm all for not overeating and eating clean and exercise, that seems to be common sense, but many parts of this diet beg lots of questions.

Parker Wold & Alexander Ritchie We are animals - great apes. We were not designed, we evolved... Please keep your religious indoctrination at least outside this discussion.

Alexander Gustafsson I'm also kind skeptic...seems like another dietary fad. I'm all for not overeating and eating clean and exercise, that seems to be common sense, but many parts of this diet beg lots of questions. How about people that suffer from anorexia, why aren't they more healthy? How about historical starvation times when people died from being hungry? Also the study mentioned in the video was due to WWII aftermath when they were trying to help malnourished people from nazi death camps...why did they need helping if it is so healthy to go hungry?

Alexander Ritchie seriously? I haven't said anything that isn't untrue, and I didn't start a usless conversation on a topic inappropriate in this context.

Alexander Ritchie I'm not offended, I just cannot understand your need to involve religion into this... but go ahead brag some irrelevant stuff here, I guess you crave some attention.

Mdelta2000 that suppose to be an insult? :)))

T O R A I'm not seeking here to argue, I'm just honestly curious, how is it this different from anorexia? You seem to know more, so that's why am asking.

TaylorEqualsRandom well, of course I am aware of the psychological implications of anorexia, and the difference to this dietary choice, but if you think about it, at physiological level the on the body, the implications should be the same? So what is the difference of prolong fasting and anorexia physically on the body?

Michael Gerke In this video was presented the case of a person that basically starved himself for a year.. and no explanation about the difference to famine, or anorexia. Plus a did some research on ketosis, and as I suspected it has some scientific stuff behind it, but it is another dietary fad. You lose most of the water and the muscles when you go to extreme length of fasting. And yes, ketones (which indeed are a form of energy) are released, but this practice is not advised by physicians to healthy patients. There are also supplements with ketones, and it showed some promising results for children with epilepsy and for some forms of cancer treatments. For healthy individuals and even more for performing athletes it is not advised as a healthy diet. So take it as you like, but after fasting the only thing that will happened, especially for a a woman, you will gain much more than you had.

william roy So a deficiency of vitamin C does not lead to scurvy? Really?
1
CvnDqnrU Vitamin B12 is produced by a bacteria... And we do need fibers to absorb vitamins, what exactly is so confusing for you?
1
william roy You do realize that breast milk contains the nutrients that the mother digested, right? That's why if the mother has a poorly diet, babies suffer from colics.

Exactly! I've googled and found on a nutritional site that The Ketogenic Diet, as I assumed, it's a bit of science and a bit of fad...
