Teach them empathy, to recognize each other as humans and children of the universe...and spend time talking about the world and it's problems...and how to fix it by being a better human being. It can be done, it takes a lifetime and it is fun and hard work. Sometimes you have to answer that question that you didn't want to... just answer and keep it real otherwise you will get blindsided at family dinner. LOL. It's the best if you want to do it but it's not for everyone. Kudos to them who do it well and to them who know it's not for them so they don't.
