I´m 47. And when I was a kid it was the same, frogs everywhere and eggs in every pool in spring time. We kids used to collect tadpoles to raise them. I didn´t know about this desease, I thought it was all due to habitat loss and pesticides...

@gideon9096 Yes, that fungus must have been around long before the 70s without causing devastation.

@CLPanda98 Damn...you know the changes are coming fast af when being drastic even in the memory of a 25 y/o... I had a similar epiphany around that age, when suddenly realizing that the insects that used to splatter the car windows all summers, to the point of making them hard to see through, were absolutely gone. You can now drive a whole hot summer day without hitting more than an occasional insect. When I bring this up with people my age they go Ooh shit I didnt think about that! People dont always react to vital changes. The new quickly becomes normal. For those of us who see them, there's a fair deal of grief for what has been lost. I miss the insects, the buzzing life of them. Edit: I can hardly imagine how it must be like, living so close to recurring wildfires. Must evoke a special kind of doomsday atmosphere....I´m sorry...
