If there were safe and legal routes perhaps whole families including women and children would come together, rather than sending their youngest and fittest men on the perilous journey to get settled first, and then have their families join them via conventional routes.

Perhaps you're just a little too eager to pass judgement on whole groups of people, and seek (dis)information which suits your pre held beliefs. Who says their families are in their home countries? Neighbouring countries to serious trouble spots host huge numbers, far more than we do, Lebanon and Turkey in particular.

People are people regardless of their faith or lack thereof, if you spent time with actual people who’re not like you, rather than reading things which confirm only your biases, you’d realise that and not live in fear.
