  41.  @TheUberkunt  The methods of ending hyperinflation are tried and tested, multi faceted and unfortunately painful, “chainsaws to government” is not one of them. To put it very basically, the following are initially used: * Shoring-up the national currency via increased reserves of foreign reserve currencies, holdings of gold. * Redenomination. * Not taking any further foreign currency loans, only accepting those in the denominated in the national currency. * Placing protectionist tariffs on imported goods to reduce demand and to reduce trade deficit. * Aiding exporters and placing currency controls upon them. * International bailouts and foreign debt restructuring (if available). By the time hyperinflation has set it, simple monetary and fiscal reforms such a reduction of government spending, interest rate rises and tax reform solve nothing. The underlying issues must be dealt with. Populism isn’t what’s popular with the electorate, it’s big promises with simple solutions, it’s divisive, grievance and scapegoating politics. Usually claiming the reasons people’s lives are not as they desire is because of group / institution / issue x, milk and honey are just over the horizon, x is the sole / primary impediment. It’s a nonsense, reality is complex and difficult, there are no easy answers or solutions, sustainable change is slow. Pretending otherwise only leads to further grievance. No candidate standing will solve Argentina’s problems, however only one will make the situation far worse. Milei is by far the greatest of the three evils on offer.
