From 1997 to 2008 the Tory opposition were agitating for far greater financial deregulation, had they been in power the impact on the British balance sheet would have been immeasurably worse, don’t try to risibly pretend otherwise.

Keep dreaming Andrew, immigration is no-longer a primary concern of the majority, trade with the EU is still going to be mired in a mountain of red, white and blue tape, Sunak cannot change that without rolling back this hard Brexit, the economy will naturally improve over the next 18 months (unless global influences worsen) however ordinary people will not significantly feel it in their pockets with the exception of fuel prices. The Tories have been in power too long and their record is appalling, as such the pendulum has shifted, their loss is all but inevitable.

  20.  @tyromenobber-fb2ls  AUKUS has nothing to do with Brexit it could have been agreed when the UK was a member of the EU, the “migration bill” has not “passed” and will likely never actually enter into practice even if it is enacted, what France does is its business and nothing to do with Brexit, Biden is visiting N.I. for the 25th anniversary of the GF/BF agreement not in support of anything to do with Brexit.

France is not the EU, it has nothing to do with French "regulations" and Australia (as any country) can withdraw from defence contracts within the scope of their break clauses as they wish. It's equally possible for a future American, Australian and/or British government to walk away from AUKUS, the $300bn~ cost of the programme is an enormous burden to the Australian taxpayer, so is a distinct possibility.

The reality of 13 years of disastrous Tory government is that practically all but themselves, their chums and donors have actually been "brought down to poverty level", yet they and the oligarchy they have assembled are far, far wealthier than ever before. As for the rest of your claptrap, it's undiluted bovine excrement. Please don't bother with "But, but but... Labour bankrupted the country in 2008!". That was a global financial crisis and the Tories were pushing for even greater financial deregulation throughout the noughties, had they had been in power the effect on the UK would have been even worse ... The fact is that Tory governments have always borrowed far more money than Labour ones, this is easily fact checked by absolutely anyone.
