  4. They definitely hate men in modern cinema. Things have gotten worse since the bumbling stumbling dad trope introduced in Mr. Mom in the 80s. Now the bumbling stumbling dad has evolved into the Beta Male hero who is dumb, emotional and melodramatic. Audiences can't relate to him because he lacks confidence and doesn't want to change. He's a character that looks for sympathy and wants a woman to save him instead of rising to the challenge. The Beta Male hero is designed by Hollywood to be someone to make things "equal". Unfortunately, he shows how unbalanced modern Hollywood storytelling is. He's just there to make the women appear to be smarter and more competent. When things get hard, he doesn't rise to the occasion to show why he's a hero, he gives up, hoping a woman will save him. That's not a hero. That's a WIMP.
