  1. Having owned two Acuras before, I love the brand for its' performance, reliability and value. Great cars, imo. But Genesis isn't really competing with Japanese "premium" cars. Unlike Japanese brands, all of their vehicles are RWD and generally offer more features. They clearly have Euro brands in mind, except that they're far more reliable. Still, hard to go wrong with either of these fine machines.

  2. Good review. But not really a fair one. Of course the GV80 is better. It's a more expensive, more luxurious RWD architecture rig. A better matchup would've had the Aviator here.

  3. This car is nice. But the all new model is coming out this November and it's a quantum leap better than this one. Options will include the all new 2.5T with almost 300hp, AWD, an 8 speed DCT and adaptive suspension. It will blow everything else out of the water in this segment. Can't wait!

  4. The G70 is actually a proper rwd sport sedan and by most accounts, one of the best handling cars in segment. The TLX is a modified fwd Honda. They're not really the same thing. Both great imo. But not the same flavor.

  10. MJ..the new Bimmer is an improvement over the current model, but I wouldn't say it looks any more premium than this G70. Only the price is premium.

  11. Truth...Don't feel too bad. Americans initially had a lot of problems buying Japanese cars too. ' I wouldn't buy a Honda!!" Branding is hard for some people to get over. Judge this car on it's merit and value, and not the Kia badge on the front, and you will see this car is in a class by itself!

  12. Wrong. The Genesis doesn't share a platform with any Hyundai product, unlike the Acura. In fact it's the only mainstream lux brand that doesn't have any FWD platforms.

But you said it's a Hyundai that's been remade to be a Genesis. And that's simply not true. It's not based on any Hyundau model. The RDX however, started out life as a CR-V and became an Acura. It's not the same thing.

  17. Lots of great cars in this class. But I really love this one!! I just don't understand why they don't use the full digital cluster like they do in other markets. We've had it since 2019 here.

  18. At this price point, this car has no equal in the world. With any car you want to compare this to, you have to add the expression, "but...". For example the 7 Series? But it's twice the price. Fully loaded 3 Series? Same price, but half the car. I've been in this car and comparable German competitors. The K9 is 90 percent of the car, but less than 50 percent of the price.

  20.  @redzoom7857  Yes, true it's my opinion. And it's not that I don't like the 3 Series. I do. But having spent a little time in both of them, the BMW does not feel any more premium than the G70. Design wise, the G70 is at least as good. "The average person" is swayed by the badge on the front and not so much by the car itself. In my opinion, both are great cars, but the Genesis gives you far more for your buck.

  22. @AzaelNYC It's a really nice car, to be sure! Reliable? We'll have to wait and see. You know it's hit and miss with Acura these days. Not like in the past. But again, it is still a modified Accord platform and just can't drive the way the G70 does.

  25. Gerald....I understand your point about luxury buyers wanting a "luxury experience". But Kia wants to change that way of thinking. Not everyone wants to pay thousands of dollars more just so they can have a great cappuccino at the dealership. When you buy a German competitor, you are essentially getting raped at the dealer to pay for all that "prestige". It doesn't go into the car.

  31.  @RunEmDownTony  Yes, we know that now. The K5GT still kicks ass on Toyota and Honda though. And, that's why they have the Stinger. It offers all of those things and the refresh is really quite attractive.

That is repeated when you go to the shop. Should an oil change at your Benz dealer really be 3 times the price of a Kia dealer?

  44. Gas prices may never go back that high. There's such a global glut of oil, it could take decades to reduce. Most other developed countries already pay much higher gas prices than the US. So we still have to consider efficiency, and therefore still get great sedans.

  46.  @redzoom7857  I was referring to the current gen 3 series. However the new one is not any better quality, but just a more modern take. And in fact, average people can NOT tell the difference unless they see the badge. Numerous studies have been done that prove this. Car lovers; maybe. Average people: nope.

  50. If I were you, and could wait just a little, I'd consider the all new G80 that coming out this year. It's a quantum leap better than the current car.
