Danny...Actually the Optima became the K5 in 2010 in Korea. We had one model run of the Optima before that.

Car...No, that would be the Kia Cadenza (K7).

Daniel...No, that's the Kia Cadenza (K7).

They stopped using that stylized "K" many years ago in Korea. But I remember it too!

@CarsandCollectors Right. Almost. 290hp and 311 lb/ft.
3
@SuperPhelix Makes sense, I guess, since most European cars use numbers instead of names. Good way to distinguish.

In case you didn't hear, the GT will NOT get AWD. But the 1.6 models will have it as an option.
2
@CarsandCollectors You're right! That would be wicked!
2
Already called that in Korea. :)
2
Joseph...No it wasn't. It became the K5 in 2010 with the introduction of that new model. Before that it was Optima in Korea.

@dbrms_flute Yes, that's true. I've lived in Korea a long time. My friend had one of the old Optimas. It was a long time ago. lol

Cody Smith...Something Doug didn't mention is that the EX will be available with AWD. Unfortunately the GT will not. Something that might play into your decision.
1
@ATRichard Ah, I see. Those are the top US trims? Yeah, they didn't give the GT awd because they are putting the 2.5T into the Stinger and that has awd as an option.
1
@codycrawford2385 I'm sure you can get a nicely equipped model for that money. Happy shopping!
1
Adel...Yes, you're confused. GDI is gasoline direct injection. Never diesels.
1
CDN zine...Not always. Prior to 2010, we had the Optima as well.
1
Don't forget the K7=Cadenza.
1
To be fair, that Chevy as a Blazer; not actually K5. All Kia sedans in Korea have the "K" moniker. We have K3, K5, K7 and K9.
1
Doudymac...Right! The Korean car has a lot of things that the US doesn't have. Seems very odd.
1
@A real bisexual petrol-head Yes, that's true. Numers are not a bad thing, imo.
