As far as an engine block goes, its an interesting find. But being part of the Bill Patterson race team, I don't know what Harry Firth would have had to do with it?. As Harry and Peter didnt see eye to eye when Peter left the dealer team. I find it hard to believe that the brock foundation know the engine numbers of his cars?...who would have kept such records back then? As far as i know, Log Books had the chassis numbers in them, but not the engine numbers...maybe someone could shed better light on this?.

Yes, the whole things suspect. It may be a block from a latter Brock commadore road car, but thats about as much as it has in common with peter brock.

The original car was used by Bill Paterson racing the following year,,and survives to this day. This certanily isnt it.

@rebeccakenworthy4623 Hello again Rebecca. They used duel plane manifolds back then, and when I saw the 1987 Mobil bathurst commodore, the one that Peter Champion owned( 05), it ran a Quardrajet. Back in the seventies most teams that I'm aware of, regardless wether they were Holden or Ford, ran either Single Holley's or dual side draft Webers. I'm hoping someone that had something to do with Bill Paterson Racing, will see this clip and share their thoughts on the motor.

@rebeccakenworthy4623 Interesting to hear about the numbers on the brock motors Rebecca. The motor in question is being claimed as the 1976 bathurst motor, but theres no way that Peter wouldeve been involved with building it( god forbid), he was only the paid driver for Bill Patterson. So going by what youve said, I suspect that the block is most likely from a later brock commodore. Though I have no idea how they came up with it being from 1976?. I was involved with the Brocks 20 odd years ago, and back then, the Brock foundation was a source to gather funds for charities, which was a cause held dear to both Peter and Bev. At least back then it had nothing to do with motor racing, so I don't know why they would say it was a bathurst engine?.
