I'd take the facts on this video about Australia with a pinch of salt. ''The Australian Aboriginals were mostly hunter gatherers''..?. Actually they all were. What evidence is there to suggest that before Europeans arrived that they cultivated anything?. Dont believe what the likes of Bruce Pascoe says. I thought that 40-45000 years ago, was genuinely accepted as oldest known evidence to suggest that people were in Australia?. Where did they dig up 125,000 from ???? Each tribes language is different, for the simple reason, that as tribes splintered their language changed over time. Too many people are trying to change history nowadays. Either way IWroker, thanks for showing an interest in our country.

@BBBBB950 LOL You're on the yabba. I wouldent call any of those things as cultivating. 'Grain Fields'??...thats a first. I think youve been reading too much 'Black Emu'. I don't profess to be an expert on the subject, but i did spend 5 years in the territory, and was very much interested in Aboriginal ways and heritage. Not once was any sort of cultivation ever mentioned, it was all hunting and trapping...and in different locations so the game wouldent wizen up to the traps. I have respect for Aboriginals, but have no time for BS, especially whats being thrown around nowadays by virtue signaling WOKERS.

IWROCKER. Have you checked out the old bathurst footage from the 70's?. That was when it was literally racing around farmers paddocks. And the cars and drivers had character.

They turned the turbo up for qualifying, and kept it cool by sqirting cool water or something that was in the fire extinguisher onto/into the turbo...they were never caught.

Over the years, theve also flattened out the 'Humps', which on the last one, some cars would get their wheels off the track.

My father worked at Nissan in those days, and he told me that they had some sort of coolant in the fire extinguisher, which they piped onto(or into) the turbo to keep it cool so it wouldent blow it self up during qualifying. As they had turned it up so high.

@BBBBB950 To use the word 'Cultivate' in the examples youve put forward, is stretching it a bit to far for me...but thats just my opinion; especially in the context of what the video was putting across. I'm very aware of the seasonal burn offs, they made the sky at sunset a beautiful purple. Good luck to you and your family BB.

Do some research into what happened to the Australian Muscle cars in 1972, you might find that interesting. Look up 'Supercar scare'.

@Vampin775 That was the story told to me back in the 80's, by my father who was a engineer at Nissans clayton factory. The guys there new the race team had cheated, and someone in the team had told them that they had some sort of coolant hidden in the fire extinguisher that sprayed into or onto the turbo. Though it since has been confirmed that it was a cable from the ashtray to the wastegate or something, that allowed for the extra boost.

I dont think the ashtray was the 'boost Controller'... My father worked at Nissan in those days, and he told me that they had some sort of coolant in the fire extinguisher, which they piped onto(or into) the turbo to keep it cool so it wouldent blow it self up during qualifying. As they had turned it up so high. Obviously this little modification wasnt legal, but they were never caught.

@borismcfinnigan3430 Even if Fred Gibson himself denied it, id still believe what the engineers at Nissan said. Why would they make up such a story, especially about their own car?.
1
@borismcfinnigan3430 No, my father didnt make up any stories, he didnt need to. This was told to me almost four decades ago, when most people knew very little about turbos, especially in Australia. (Brock wasnt even racing a turbo when this took place, so it had nothing to do with him). The engineers knew that the race team had cheated in some way to get pole position, and they were told by someone in the team about the fire extinguisher. So why should they believe any different?.

@DRWho1959 theres no mention of this 'record' in the write up in australian muscle car magazine issue 101. The only mention of the top speed was by Barry Nelson who stated..'from what i can gather, this(182 mph) was the fastest car down conrod straight to that point'. It happened during practice, and their was reports that geoghgan went faster during the race while he was dicing with moffat. According to australian mucsle car issue 12 ,Moffat was recorded at173 and geoghegan 185.
