  10. If a breakout was to be attempted, some men wouldeve had to have been left behind to give the impression that they were still there, or the Russians wouldeve swamped them. Once the russians found out that the germans were leaving, they wouldeve ordered an all out offensive with whatever was available to destroy them. With the germans now not in prepared positions, this would not have ended well for them. So either way, the 6th army was screwed.
