Imagine if a white person made a generalisation like that about black people on TV? They would never work in the media again! I wish there wasn't so much talk of race - I'm white and I loved this video, all I saw were two smart, beautiful, likeable women who happen to be black. Surely a person's colour is the least interesting thing about them? It honestly doesn't preoccupy me what a person's ethnic background is - are they a kind, warm hearted, fun person to be around, that's all I'm interested in! Have a great day.

@jarrellidk Not offended so much as bored - I honestly don't know why race is at the forefront of so many people's minds, even in casual conversation. I'm British and I've noticed it seems to be an American thing. Some very ugly overt racism in comments from Americans too.

@christinajohnson6026 Thank you for your thoughtful, insightful post, which I sincerely appreciate. It was so smart, I need to go away and think about it. And that I shall do! I am often horrified by the racist (by which I mean anti-black), comments I read here. I find it hard to believe such blind ignorance still survives in 2020. But of course, for black people it's a monotonous fact of life. I do realise racism works both ways - in fact, all ways! But that's down to human ignorance, which is sadly universal and afflicts us all, whatever our colour. God bless. XX

@melissagonzalez674 I think you make a fair point. I also think the joke didn't make as much sense here in the UK as it obviously does in America, the whole yoga reference went over my head a bit. And that's a difference in culture between the US and UK. From what I've seen on YouTube comments, Americans are far more preoccupied with people's ethnic background than we are in Britain. As Kasie L said in her excellent post, race discussions are an American thing, much more than a British thing. We generally stay off the subject to avoid offending anyone, we are very aware of what a sensitive subject it can be. And I'm glad to say, anyone expressing racist or bigoted views is pretty much despised and ridiculed here. I'm not saying there's less racism in the UK, it exists of course. But I do think it's much more taboo here, and people watch what they say because they don't want to be branded a racist, that is regarded as something really shameful and ignorant. As it should be!

@byronwratee4797 I haven't heard a story like that recently, no. Are you referencing a news story around 1 year ago, in which a minor UK 'celebrity' made a racist joke about Megan the Duchess of Sussex?

Oh my, these women are beautiful. If there's reincarnation, I'm coming back as a beautiful black woman, so much more attractive than us white girls!

Are yams the same as sweet potato?

@elmersantos148 Other people are putting way more energy on my comment than I did! And in fact you just proved my point, people literally obsess about race/colour in the US. It's a horrible racist country, I'd hate to live there.

@Hvdth47733ygcdf Dear God! Has a perfectly reasonable, logical and progressive comment like mine ever attracted so much pious, prim, pedantic and petulant comment? Doubtful! Oh Mikayla, you misunderstood pretty much every aspect of my contribution here. Gratuitous references to race don't me feel 'uncomfortable', just bored. Your sadly laboured and I'm afraid horribly cliched statements don't, in all honesty, merit any kind of detailed response. So I'll just tell you I'm an INDIVIDUALIST, and refer you to the late, great Quentin Crisp for further enlightenment. https://youtu.be/mIjuHWUHnhI

@isobel64 Clearly it's you who's offended - and desperate! Can't you think of a more original insult than 'snowflake'? It's OLD and irrelevant, like you!

Is this a race issue? I'm white and as far as I'm aware, white people love meat and many won't be converted to vegetarianism. I think meat eating is pretty universal, unfortunately. I am trying to go veggie - may I ask you Mrs Magical Monica - what kinds of vegetarian meals do you make most often? I live alone and I'm not much of a cook, so I would love a few reliable, easy go-to supper ideas if you have any up your magical sleeve, lol! Thanks in advance.
