Fascinating that some people commenting here HATE the idea that the cat might genuinely love the rat, and are desperate to disprove it. They don't want to believe in this cat - rat friendship. Weird. A psychiatrist would no doubt explain their reasons!

Seems you're one of the weirdos - I mean people - who feel threatened by this cat-rat partnership, and don't want to believe in it. I wonder why? All kinds of different animals can make friends in the right circumstances - cats snuggle up with dogs, goats lay with pigs, cows groom horses, it's endless because there's far more unites all animals, than divides them.

Don't you like the video? That's a weird comment, sounds like you want the relationship to fail. How sad you didn't see the beauty of two such different animals hanging out and showing love for each other.

The rat is safe with the cat, because the cat has learned he is not prey but another family member with equal status. She'd no more eat the rat than she would her own kitten. Sad that some people are making stupid, cynical comments, and can't just enjoy seeing an unusual and clearly authentic friendship. That's the great thing about animals - they are truthful, express their feelings impulsively and don't put on an act - unlike humans who can't be trusted an inch.

@-ACE. It was an observation about all the comments here including yours, that did not want to believe these two animals had formed a bond. I'm intrigued actually, why do so many feel uncomfortable at the idea a cat and a rat might feel genuine affection and kinship with each other, and try to discredit it? This video really stung a few people, it baffles me but I reckon a psychiatrist could explain it!

@-ACE. Don't be so damned sensitive, I already said my observation was about more than your comment. This is a place for people to share opinions and respond to each other. The clue's in the title, 'Comments'. If you can't handle even a mild criticism, then it's you who should stop reading comments. That said, I hope you don't, 'cos you'll miss out on a invaluable experience. Learning to handle criticism with grace and maturity is the mark of a great human being.
