@Linkophere Spot on, when a person is spoken well of by strangers, but not by those who know him/her well, I'm afraid it speaks volumes about them. His relationship with his ex girlfriend was abusive - 'nuff said. I'd say he shows characteristics of a sociopath. Thank God he didn't kill anyone - he may well have been capable of it.

This was only a good story while the identity of the mystery hiker remained a mystery. Once the dead man was identified, it ceased to be a 'who dunnit' and instead became a 'who gives a shit about it'. The guy was a loser abuser, who beat up his girlfriend physically and emotionally, then ran away from the grown-up world to live out a lone fantasy. When you vanish into thin air and not even friends or family miss you, it doesn't say much for your character or your legacy. The creative creator of this video did a great job making a silk purse, out of a sow's ear. 'Mostly Harmless' is far less fascinating than he's portrayed, and certainly isn't worth a 50 minute YouTube documentary! The only good domestic abuser is a dead one. He wasn't 'Mostly Harmless' at all, but he is totally deceased, thank God!

There's a word for people who are loved by casual acquaintances, and loathed by those who know them well - Arseholes. This guy's girlfriend said he was physically and emotionally abusive to her. It's doubtful he was any great loss to the world!

@Ikrell-Laires Exactly, this story is just another over-hyped social media/YouTube mystery, endlessly debated online for entertainment. No one gave a shit about the guy, and why should they - they didn't know him. Even those who did know him well, didn't give a shit about him - which doesn't say much for his life or his legacy! His ex girlfriend's account suggested he's an abusive creep. I doubt he'll be missed.

@philiptucker7590 His dad abused him, and he abused his girlfriend. The cycle of abuse ended with his death, so it wasn't all bad!

@totex77 If you've nothing more interesting or intelligent to add to the thread than that sanctimonious bollocks, don't bother. 'Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt'.
