  1. Agreed - it's no mystery how Brian's parents raised an abusive monster. The way they have indulged and protected him after he returned home in Gabby's van without her speaks volumes about them. Decent parents would have spoken to police and Gabby's poor parents - not lawyered up and let him hide behind mommy's skirts! They're a despicable couple, and belong in jail with their murdering scumbag son.

The way they have mollycoddled him, hired a lawyer, refused to speak to police or to Gabby's desperate parents, and let their son hide behind his mother's skirts is appalling. It's also reminiscent of other narcissistic killers like Chris Watts. His mom and dad were also inappropriately protective of him. Indulgent parents breed dangerously entitled men! No one is saying they should reject their child, but to go so far the other way and protect him from the consequences of his behaviour is weird, warped and wholly unacceptable. I wouldn't be surprised if Mr and Mrs Laundrie are soon victim-blaming and publicly criticising Gabby, as the Watts family slandered their murdered daughter-in-law Shanann. If you study true crime as I have, this killing follows a depressingly predictable pattern seen in many domestic murders. Brian Laundrie is far from unique - alas there are many dangerous covert narcs like him out there, and more are walking free than are in prison! My concern is that women learn about narcissistic abuse so they can recognise the red flags in a perpetrator's conduct and escape him before it's too late. If Gabby had been wise to her boyfriend's deeply toxic behaviour, she would probably be alive today.
