  1. Typical media hype! These family murders had nothing to do with witchcraft, and everything to do with a dysfunctional mother cruelly favouring two sons over their elder half brother - prompting a legitimate anger and resentment in him, which tragically escalated to a murder plot. To understand all is to forgive all, and Donald Hartung was badly mistreated by his family. In no way am I defending murder outside of self-defence, it is no way to resolve conflict. But to be cast aside and disinherited by his mom (even when he was arriving at the home she shared with his two half brothers every week, to cook them all a delicious dinner), was mean and heartless. No wonder he was angry! Donald Hartung lived down the road with his beloved dog, in a modest bungalow, struggling to pay his bills on little money. Meanwhile his Mom had hundreds of thousands in the bank, a nice house and a steady income coming in from her two, working youngest sons (and they both had savings in the bank too). She was so well off she was a hoarder, constantly ordering so much stuff she didn't need off QVC, that half of it stood in her home unopened and still in its boxes! Why did she disinherit Donald when he was so loyal to her?Is it because she hated his father? We will never know. But it clearly devastated him - and led to her murder, and the murders of her younger sons by him. You reap what you sow in this life, and I have very little sympathy for that self-centred, heartless mother!
