  1. It has to help enormously if you've had flying instruction before - for one thing, the controls are familiar to you. For anyone else they would look very confusing and complicated, especially under that kind of life or death pressure!

  2. This is why commercial airlines carrying the public always have a minimum of two pilots on board! It astonishes me anyone would play Russian Roulette and get on a light aircraft with just one pilot - especially if he's middle aged/elderly. If he has a heart event/stroke, you're in BIG trouble! Respect to everyone involved in this recent, miraculous story - Great video, especially on such a fast turnaround!
