You do realize that the majority of online hate comments for any vehicle, typically comes from people who have never even driven before, right? They're kids who watch a few videos and play driving games on their Xbox, so they think they know something.

"We made it wider by 40mm." Bro...that's less than two inches. Why are you bragging? I change the track of a vehicle more than that by swapping wheels.

Thumbs down for not re-uploading this video with the audio fixed, after nearly two years.

I don't think I've ever changed an alternator in a garage. Every one of them was in a parking lot - typically on the hottest day of the year. The luck o' the Irish, I guess.

Truth. It's funny that he talks about throwing a mattress in the back. On long trips, I typically just recline the seat, slide it back and pull my hat down. The driver's seat in my 'burban is as comfy as my mattress at home.

I'll be a Cooper guy for as long as they maintain their formula. They're competitive with more expensive offerings, I've never had a reliability/manufacturing issue with any that I've had and best of all, they're made in the USA. Yup, they've got my business for the foreseeable future.

@endlessroadie3131 What did it smell like?
7
@josephmule8387 That's why solid axle vehicles are preferred when building rock crawlers, right?

I always love this line from politicians and law enforcement. "No, you don't understand. We're technically making it illegal for everyone but don't worry. We're going to discriminate heavily. Trust us, bro."
4
They should make 1,984 of those, since that was the first year of the Bronco II (and that's the real predecessor to the Bronco Sport).
4
Which is why it's not featured in Commuter Car Magazine. That's not what it's for. As they mentioned, Wranglers aren't meant to be your primary vehicle. It's a Jeep.
3
Truth. Had a '94 TA GT. Bone stock, it left the line hard and broke' em loose going into second. This guy launches like a school bus driver.
3
A scary thought: That '01 was about $30,000 new. 21 years later, it's about $5,000. The new one starts at about $65,000. It'll be about $30,000 in 21 years. Imagine what new cars will cost by then.
3
Max T. So the shit you talk is due to experience that you've had with said cars? You spend a lot of time driving various vehicles without a license? Or have you collected irrefutable data about each vehicle to defend your point of view? Those would be the only ways to know what you're talking about. Anything less is hearsay.

Wow, memories. My mother's old '93 Grand Cherokee was the first vehicle I ever "borrowed" to go joy riding. Such a great all-around SUV. These new ones don't do the name justice. If only Jeep took the Cherokee/Grand Cherokee heritage as seriously as they do the Wrangler.

I love all the nonsense about it being the CVT when current Subarus have CVTs but handle this stuff much better, due to the new dual-stage X Mode. It's almost as though it's not the CVT at all but the lack of programming options in the AWD system that's the problem...
2
Lucky Big Red can't drive. Those LT1 TAs did mid 13s, bone stock, without trying.
2
If that's the point then the test is pointless. They might as well have rented a Corvette and tried to run it in snow with stock tires. They claim they're comparing an AWD car to a 4WD truck to see which is better in the snow. They're not. They're comparing tires that are terrible in the snow with tires that are okay in the snow...just because they happened to come stock on the two vehicles they chose. The minute your tires lose traction, it doesn't matter what vehicle you're in or what features it has. That's all there is to it.
2
@joseybarra2046 I would really like to live in this utopia of yours, where nobody ever has to make compromises on cost. I'll bet tires are really expensive there, because companies don't have to compete on price. Fortunately, here in the real world we have companies like Cooper that make good tires for people who can't afford your utopian tires. FYI: The majority of the US is in the 'price matters' tax bracket. Screaming "LET THEM EAT CAKE!" just makes you look like an out of touch douchebag.

@Rays_Bad_Decisions 1/4 mile times for this generation were mid to high 13s. Special editions like the one in the video and Firehawks were high 12s to low 13s. My '94 would break the tires loose going into second and third, with 315, 50 series Daytons on the back. But no. Never could have possibly driven one before. Please, share more of your special wisdom about one of the most common working-class sports cars on the planet. Only you and nearly every other guy over 35 has ever driven a Firebird or a Camaro but you've surely got something to teach.

I wonder how many decoys these companies deploy to throw people off the trail...

Needs some Cooper Discoverer AT3s. It'll take that hill no problem.
1
This is everything your typical suburbanite family (aka parking lot campers) would have wanted. Too bad it was too ugly to want it parked in your driveway. The exterior styling is what killed this car. Another body style would have made this thing sell like hotcakes.
1
Mountains to desert.
1
Crossover is what you say when you're embarrassed to admit you drive a station wagon.
1
Why use the GPS mileage? You set the trip meter. Use that.
1
William Thatcher It's easier to flip a vehicle with a shorter wheelbase. That's why uphill dirtbikes have such insanely long swingarms.
1
I love road trips. I even love doing all the driving. Just watching the two of you talk about trying to make it to a charger - and hoping it actually works when you get there - made me hate the idea of trying to drive anywhere outside of my own county. Call me when charging stations are as ubiquitous as gas stations. Until then, I'll keep driving on dead dinosaurs.
1
And then the Trans Am left the line a few seconds later. Sometimes cars are sleepers. Other times, it's the drivers doing the snoozing.
1
Called it an Overland... Wouldn't overland as well as the Trailhawk. Words mean things, Chrysler.
1
They said it had brand new brakes. Watch the way it stops. I think they put on new rotors and didn't break them in properly. Stopped like a limo driver, trying not to make his passengers spill their champagne.
1
They spend their time crapping on Subaru vehicles for not doing things they were never designed to do. No car company is going to cater to "reviewers" who go out of their way to find ridiculous things to trash their cars for. The Lamborghini Aventador is AWD, too. Imagine crapping on it for not being able to do Gold Mine Hill.
1
@Neberheim Cool story. Meanwhile, that has little to do with my response or the comment to which I was responding.
1
Well, yes. They need the extra profits to fund the EV programs they're being forced to create. If you don't like it, vote the people out of office who are pushing this nonsense.
1
Title says three Jeeps. Did I miss something?
1
They can't do that. If they start charging us the right prices again, they won't have extra money to fund their EV programs. They're basically making us pay for vehicles we've never claimed to want, because the government is forcing them into a corner.
1
@9663mu Absolutely. I'm just saying that Big Red can't drive. I had the '93 Camaro Z28, with the 6-speed and the '94 TA with the "hot button" automatic. Both of them left the line good and hard and would bark the tires going into second (and third), without trying. The way he was driving, it looked like he was trying to conserve fuel.
1
You see them doing barn finds in 50-60 years? Maybe to convert them to alcohol burners. Channels like yours are doing a great job promoting EVs. We won't have gasoline available in 50-60 years.
1
Yeah, they should definitely reinforce unsafe driving practices, just because a lot of people aren't willing to do common sense things, like using the right tires for their environment. Maybe next they could put some half bald street tires on and try to tackle Rubicon. I mean, since that's what most people have on their cars...
1
So, how long before the meth heads figure out that those charger cables are full of copper wire? It'll be fun trying to find a charge station to use once that happens.
1
Considering the price difference, the real Cherokee wins by a country mile. Put the difference in cost into that old girl and see what you end up with. Dollar for dollar, that new thing isn't even close.
1
Yes but if they make vehicles affordable, thry can't use the extra profits to fund more gimmick EVs that will inevitably fail. They have to keep price gouging us.
1
Yes, I'm so excited at the prospect of companies giving us cheap crap for the price that current cars should be priced at, rather than bringing the prices of current vehicles down to where they belong. I'm just giddy about it...
