  8. They're all doing it wrong. 1. Build a sporty convertible by shoehorning an electric setup into a familiar, exotic sports car (a la Lotus) 2. Market only to the rich. 3. Get purchased by a billionaire who wants to change the world. Those are the steps Tesla took. You can't replicate their success with a different formula.

  11. Speaking of EV conversions, did you know that it's easier to legally convert a post 1975 vehicle in States like Kentucky than it is in California? Yup, because of California's strict smog laws, you have to jump through extra hoops and pay the State money to convert to electric. In many other States, you just swap and go.

  12. I got a speeding ticket trying to avoid this kind of accident. I was on the left, passing a truck. He didn't see me and started to come over, to avoid merging traffic. I was too far forward to hit the brakes and there was no shoulder, so I gunned it. As I pulled past the truck, a cop tagged me with his radar gun. 87 in a 70. I tried to explain it to the cop and he said "Well, it's illegal to break the speed limit. It's not illegal to get hit by a truck." Yeah, real nice guy.

  14. Considering how many people have been unable to get verified - only to have Twitter tell them they can get it done for thousands of dollars - I'd say $8/month is a deal. Furthermore, I think you're wrong about who cares more about the verification. People's voices are given more weight if they're verified. If you're famous and don't have a checkmark, you're considered a bot or fake account. That's fine to me, since I don't think the political opinions of actors, models, etc, should have any more weight than anyone else's. Paying for verification is fine by me. I'll continue to speak freely, for free because I feel no need to prove who I am. After all, I'm nobody. Anyone who doesn't want to pay the $8 can enjoy the same level of free speech as me.

  16. I'm definitely in. Forget watching your device become less relevant of the course of a year or two. "Oh look, a new RAM module. Mine." "Hey, a higher res display. Add to cart." "Ooh, the new SIM tray with SD slot is available... and I just got paid! Upgraaaade!" Sell your leftovers or hang onto them and build another phone/mp3 player. There is just so much win to be had.
