  1. Considering how many people have been unable to get verified - only to have Twitter tell them they can get it done for thousands of dollars - I'd say $8/month is a deal. Furthermore, I think you're wrong about who cares more about the verification. People's voices are given more weight if they're verified. If you're famous and don't have a checkmark, you're considered a bot or fake account. That's fine to me, since I don't think the political opinions of actors, models, etc, should have any more weight than anyone else's. Paying for verification is fine by me. I'll continue to speak freely, for free because I feel no need to prove who I am. After all, I'm nobody. Anyone who doesn't want to pay the $8 can enjoy the same level of free speech as me.
