And do you know what his violent tendencies and access to a handgun likely have in common? Bad parenting and the normalization of violence. We've always had guns. We've always had bullies. What we didn't have was kids who were so incapable of dealing with their emotions that they felt the need to kill people en masse.

jerry Miller That's cute, trying to dodge the facts by saying "hunting" rifles when the OP simply said rifles. It's like you know you're full of it but don't want to admit it. But hey, while you're Googling, why not look up who was responsible for pushing the '94 AWB that banned people from owning a whole slew of different rifles (hint: it wasn't the Republicans). Then take a look at who was trying to make it permanent in 2004, when it was about to expire and it turned out to have no measurable effect on gun violence. Yeah, that's right. Democrats already know that banning those rifles doesn't make a difference but they want them gone, regardless. If I voted Democrat, I'd be pretty pissed at my representatives for trying so hard to push legislation that did nothing to help the first time around. Fun Fact: Columbine (known as the shooting that started this trend) occurred during that period between '94 and' 04, when all of the "evil" black rifles were banned. It's almost as though those kids didn't much care what kind of guns they used...

Never. Bullying has always existed and will always exist. The screwed up part is that you're blaming confused, hormonal teenagers, who were never taught how to deal with their problems in a healthy manner - for the actions of OTHER confused, hormonal teenagers, who were never taught how to deal with their problems in a healthy manner. Who is the bigger bully: the kid who pushes a kid in a locker because he's having troubles at home, or the kid who shoots other kids because of troubles he's having at school? "But he was bullied" is a cop-out. Hundreds of millions of people have been bullied and we don't kill people over it.
