@GuardianW1 What are you babbling about? These kids were going around with realistic looking water guns that didn't have an orange muzzle. It has been a law since the 90s that toy guns have to have an orange muzzle. Either they painted the guns to look more real or they bought them on the internet from an international shipper who doesn't care about US laws. How do I know? Because my son bought airsoft guns that weren't properly marked. The difference is, I took them, painted orange on them and told him if he repaints them black, I'll trash them and he'll be grounded for six months. He can be mad all he wants because being mad is a good indicator that you're not dead. Playing with toy guns that look real is a good way to find out which cops are fastest on the draw.

@jimfinigan1681 Airsoft guns are supposed to have orange tips, as well, but my teenage son still managed to buy a set of two without. He was mad when I took them out to the garage and painted them with a can of safety orange spray paint. I told him he can go ahead and be mad for the rest of his very long life because now, he isn't going to get put down by the next cop who sees him.

@richardmorgan1588 Who is talking about shooting someone by accident? It's not an accidental shooting if you shoot someone in a ski mask, waving a gun around, even if it turns out the gun was fake. It was still an intentional shooting and it was a clean shoot. If you rob a convenience store with a fake gun, they still prosecute you for armed robbery. Why? Because it's not up to the public to assume the seemingly viable deadly threat they're facing is actually a toy. You chose to present yourself as an armed robber, so you will be treated as such by both the people in the convenience store and by the courts. If you get shot by the clerk or a bystander, that's on you for tricking them into thinking you're a deadly threat.

@goodcitizen3780 Do yourself a favor and Google "white Glock." Now go ahead and search for "pink Glock." Now, "purple Glock." People are walking around with guns of any color they want. There is no "obviously fake" if your toy gun is a replica of a real gun. This is why they passed a law requiring them to have orange muzzles. The guns shown don't have that, so it's not up to a random person to assume they're toys. Especially when the person waving it around is wearing a ski mask.

@guyforlogos Society is the thing that elected these politicians, let these school boards exist, and doesn't shame these parents for their awful parenting. Society used to have standards. Those standards have slid way downhill.

@LEEx513 Yeah, no. You're wrong on this one. I had a whole collection of realistic water guns. My favorite were the Uzzi and the Mac-10. They were even battery powered so they had "auto-fire." They were all over the place back then. I feel like you must have had a very sheltered childhood not to have ever been in a Kay-Bee Toys or a Toys 'R' Us when you were a kid.

@nunyabusiness3082 I know two guys who have white Glocks with black slides, like the one they showed. I've seen at least a dozen women at the range with pink, powder blue, etc guns. You can't just go by whether the gun is black or not. That's why the law exists about the orange muzzle.

Section 4 of the Federal Energy Management Improvement Act of 1988 made it unlawful for any person to manufacture, enter into commerce, ship, transport, or receive any toy, look-alike, or imitation firearm unless the firearm contains, or has affixed to it, a marking approved by the Secretary of Commerce. 15 U.S.C. 5001. In 1989, the Department of Commerce promulgated regulations implementing this law at 15 CFR part 1150. 54 FR 19356 (May 5, 1989). In 2013, the Department of Commerce moved those regulations to 15 CFR part 272. 78 FR 4764 (January 23, 2013).
