  3. Lou Deville He did protect the dog. He kept hold of the snake's tail to keep it from wrapping and killing the dog. A python bite (even from one this size) is not a lethal threat. It hurts but that's about it. They kill by constricting. He did exactly as much as was necessary to save the dog. Your reaction is akin to saying if you saw a cat scratch your kid's face, you'd kill him for it. That's a gross overreaction to the situation. Though, in this case I'd assume that you have a deep-seated, irrational fear of cats...the way you clearly do of snakes. Calm down, it's just a snake. It didn't even do as much damage to that dog as another dog could have.
