"They're not just transitioning kids, willy-nilly." "They did it to me." "That was abuse." Exactly.

Arisce, no. Children do not know who they are. They are children. They can't "know who they are" because who they are is changing every day. Yes, we change throughout our lives but nothing like we do as children. The personality changes we go through in our first twenty years of life are drastically greater than those we go through for the entire rest of our life, after that. The fact that people are making the decision to stop natural physical processes that help with that psychological development is extremely troubling. If you always knew who you were (as you claimed) that means you have never grown or developed as a person. You have always been that person you "knew" you were from the earliest memories of your conscious mind. So, are you saying you were born a fully developed person (unlikely), or that you are - mentally and emotionally - still the child you were when you made the decision that you know yourself? It would have to be one or the other. Parents do know more about what children are going through than children do. Parents have already gone through a lot of it (even if not every, specific part of it) and have made it through to the other side. By your claims, parents are wholly unnecessary because kids are already complete when they are born. They need no guidance from those who came before them. That's obviously false.

Ten seconds in and someone raised a stuffed lizard when asked to raise their hand. Here we go.

"I wouldn't know if I'd be here if I didn't transition young." Okay. I don't know that, either. Our lack of knowledge as to the outcome of a different scenario is not an endorsement for a specific path. It's merely an acknowledgement that people can't know the unknowable.

Your kids didn't understand it because they were so young. They didn't understand anything, so you implanted the idea that your transition was healthy and normal. That is exactly why people don't want such discussions happening in place of math, language arts, or history, in schools. Kids are impressionable. Just because an adult says something, that does not mean it's true. That, however, does not occur to young children.

Luckie, thank you for pointing out this issue. Yes, kids whose parents did them wrong (like your mother when she didn't tell you you were a girl at a young age) often go looking for people to identify with. They're trying to fill a hole in their life, due to being so conflicted. You latched onto trans-identifying people, rather than being given the help you needed in understanding who you really were. That is definitely a big problem with the amplification of such a small group. It turns into recruitment, even if it isn't intended that way.

Yes, trans-trending is real. Yes, social media is responsible for most of it. No, most of these kids wouldn't even think to call themselves "non-binary" or "gender fluid" if it weren't for the extreme amount of social media exposure these things get.

Of course medical organizations support transitioning. It's a multi-BILLION dollar industry. Plastic surgeons and pharmaceutical companies have been making money off of people's body issues for decades. Big pharma loves coming out with "treatments" for things like this because people are lining up to take them. Why would they bother disagreeing with it? There's no such thing as business ethics any more and that's all the medical industry is...a business.

"Trans kids are valid and it's not a decision that they're making." Roughly one in two thousand kids is a "valid trans kid." It has become trendy to use being trans as the latest rebellion for kids. In the early 2000s, it was being gay/lesbian/bisexual. Suddenly there were a ton of kids who claimed to be one of the aforementioned. The vast majority did not continue on in that way. The big difference is that those kids didn't have a slew of "supporters" who were trying to convince them to halt their development and prepare for surgery, to make substantial alterations to their bodies. You harm fewer people by putting a minimum age on physical transition than you do by allowing it to start early. It's really that simple.
