  1. Ignoring the fact that a 60 second response time sounds pretty unlikely, how about the fact that a response time that short didn't save everyone? I'm not putting down the police; they rolled in with the quickness! I'm saying that even at 60 seconds, people died and others were injured. Tell me again how people shouldn't be allowed to carry firearms because waiting for police is the better option.

  7. Well, you see, when you have multiple bags to carry it's possible to make more than one trip to your car. Exactly how many times can you walk to your car and back in the span of 2-3 days? Even if every, single gun was in its own, separate bag and there was another one just for ammunition, why wouldn't you be able to make a dozen trips to the car and carry two bags each time? If this is the logistics problem people are having with this shooting, I worry for humanity.

  8. I'm sorry to have to disagree with this gentleman but in my experience, he's wrong. I've met and conversed - at length - with every teacher my children have ever had. Most seemed competent at teaching the curriculum they were given. None had any special information on race, gender, or sexuality that gave them any more authority on the subject than anyone else. Even those few who were especially intelligent and well read on current issues, weren't custodians of any groundbreaking knowledge to which I had not been privy. Given the givens, I'll not be just blindly trusting anyone with regards to my children's upbringing (and yes, formal education is a cornerstone to upbringing). I am their father and whether this gentleman wants to believe it or not, that means I have the final say in my children's lives. It's not a responsibility that I - or any other real parent - takes lightly.

  12.  @jeffsimpson1421  I remember a time when people didn't conflate "legal" and "normal." I haven't seen any 17-year-olds walking around with rifles and vests in my city. Most people haven't. In fact, you probably haven't. Nobody said it was normal. It is, however, legal in a lot of places. In fact, it used to be legal in even more jurisdictions. You know, back in the day? In fact, it was even a lot more normal to see teens with rifles then, too. Yeah. Back then, there were actually quite a lot of teenagers who had rifles/shotguns with them wherever they went - they just had them in their vehicles. It was perfectly normal to have a long gun in your vehicle. Go to any suburban or rural high school and you'd find parking lots full of vehicles with long guns in them. It was weird to find that said vehicles were even locked, yet nobody was gunning down their classmates. The guns have always been here and were once a much bigger part of our culture. Since that's true, maybe it's time to start focusing on the underlying causes of violence, rather than talking about the 'scary' 17-year-old with a gun - that he used to defend himself from said violence.

I can believe that taxes are necessary and still realize the obvious flaw in this, particular strategy. Can you? Or do you think there's some kind of binary, wherein anyone who disagrees with terrible tax plans is automatically against all taxes? That's what it seems like.   16.  @frankpaya690  A) His defense is paid for. The public donated to pay for his legal fees. B) There are no public places in this Country where free citizens aren't allowed to be. The situation he put himself in was created by other people's criminal activity. Are you really trying to claim that we should just let criminals decide where we are and are not allowed to go? Nope, sorry. Not gonna happen. Anyone should be able to stand on a sidewalk with a protest going on, without fear of being attacked. As for riots, they should be met with force. Armed store owners and their kin, on rooftops and in front of stores, in the LA riots, are a perfect symbol of Americanism. We will not be bullied by groups of criminals. It's really that simple.

  27. I just won't buy a 2026 or newer vehicle. I've only got another 40 years on this earth, at best. Maybe 30 of being able to drive. I can get by on used vehicles. I feel sad for everyone who has to live in the world that will exist after I'm gone, though. With the way things are going, it's going to be a true dystopian nightmare. I had intended to vote for Johnson as a "protest vote" against both Trump and Hillary but I ended up voting for Trump, simply as a defense against her. Reversing the Heller decision is not an option. A question for Progressives: If I, as a man, can't have a say about abortion laws - due to my lack of understanding of said women's issue...how could a man have enough understanding of what it is to be a woman, to claim to actually be one? All I ever ask for is ideological consistency. I can respect classical Liberals - even when I don't agree with them - for being consistent. Modern Liberals and Progressives tend to lack this fundamental principle.

The tenth amendment says that any powers not granted to the Federal government by the Constitution, are reserved for the States and the people of the United States. That means it's up to the States to decide whether to mandate vaccines, since the Federal government was not granted that power (and that was reinforced by SCOTUS in 1905).

That takes the "I'm with her" message away from the Dems, while also having a more centrist candidate - who will get a whole lot of votes from the middle.   46. He brought up the Interstate highway expense...as though it was a good thing? Wow. We didn't need the Interstate system. States would have connected their highways at their borders, as they built them. Nobody wants a highway leading to nowhere and connecting them is the one way to ensure free travel of goods and tourism to your State. Interstates are a perfect example of Federal tax money being wasted.
