  1.  @1988kcmo  The number of agencies reporting hate crimes is also up. Of course the number of reported cases is going to increase when you have more agencies reporting their numbers. If, for example, 100 agencies report their hate crimes to the FBI annually for ten years and then on the eleventh year, 20 more agencies start reporting, the number is going to increase drastically. Anyone who doesn't take the increase in agencies into account will think that something happened in the eleventh year to make people more hateful, when really, it's mostly just that we're getting more information than in previous years.
