This rule should be simple. If an ingredient's only purpose is to make food pretty or more addictive, and it falls on the negative side of the line, nutritionally, it shouldn't be allowed in our food at all. Also, why should the drug companies get even longer? Who cares if cherry cough drops are deep red? Use beet juice for coloring and move on.

@Beliserius1 Yes but honestly, so what? If I need more color in my life I'll plants some flowers in the yard or paint my living room. There's nothing vibrant or neon about a steak, yet it tastes better than any of this stuff they're adding dyes to. Cereal should be pale. It's basically just filler, anyway. Sugar cereal should just go away. Why raise your kids to think that the best way to start their day is with a bowl of diabetes?
