  1. I think it's high time we heavily regulate automatic weapons. I propose a "National Firearms Act" banning the production and sale of any new automatic weapons for sale to civilians. Any existing automatics should be monitored by the ATF to ensure it's illegal to transfer these weapons to anyone who doesn't pass strict background checks. There should be plenty of paperwork, along with sizeable fees involved. This will have the added benefit of drastically increasing the cost of those grandfathered weapons, well into the $10,000+ range. It should also be illegal for anyone to modify the internal workings of a semi-automatic firearm to make it fully automatic. Who's with me?!

  2. Why would they? If they claim it was bump-fire, they can push to have them banned. If they admit it was (already illegal) internal modifications, they A) have to admit these restrictions don't work and B) can't push for more restrictions.
