  1. UBC refers to those States in which they require NICS checks even for private transactions. California, for example, is a UBC State. It's also the perfect example of how UBC doesn't work. There are so many under-the-table gun sales going on in California, it's hilarious. They haven't done anything to stifle illegal activity. In truth, they've increased it exponentially. Same with the ammo background checks. They created a huge "black market" for ammo, from people who either A) don't want to pay extra and wait for a background check every time they want to go plinking, or B) don't feel they should have to put their name on a DOJ list of "approved" people, just to shoot guns they've owned legally for decades.

  2. But I mean, seriously. If you're otherwise living your life legally and not walking down the street hitting a bong, how likely are you to actually get busted for weed? There are plenty of people who drink in their own homes in "dry" counties. They aren't worried about getting busted. Those who do the same with weed are rarely faced with citations for personal use. It's usually when people decide they need to smoke in public, or in their car at work that there's a problem. I would argue that if the use is truly recreational - be it alcohol or marijuana - you should be able to get through a work day without it.
