Ah, AirBNB. Just another way for people to gentrify areas that used to be affordable, while reducing the overall housing availability in the process. So good.

Believe me, as someone who lives in one of these States, we're happy you don't want to retire here, too. After several years of Covid-era gentrification, it has gotten ridiculous. Newsom is almost ready to offer monetary incentives to get people to help repopulate California. They really don't want to lose another Congressional seat.

@javierclyburn5688 Great. Maybe they could try not to gentrify everyone else's States in the process. I don't really care if California gets better, if that means my kids won't be able to afford to live in the State where I'm raising them. Maybe people should stay in their States and, you know, VOTE to fix their problems.

Not sure what you're agreeing with. That the average healthcare cost and life expectancy is accurate? That the cost of living is low?

@dawnliphard9591 According to the stats I just looked up, Kentucky ranks 26th highest for healthcare costs. Considering it's a tobacco and coal State with major swaths of rural Counties, I'd say that's an incredibly good average. California ranks 24th highest, with all of their environmental laws, and tofu-eating health nuts. And unlike Kentucky, California has what those on the Right call "socialized healthcare." I mean, yes, half of the Country is cheaper than Kentucky but then, half of the Country is more expensive, too.

There's a lot of it. You don't want these (checks notes) tax burdens. There are 40 other States that are better. You should go to one of those.

@thullraven1 I encourage everyone living in New Jersey to start voting against the insanity they've been allowing for decades. Then they can stay in New Jersey and enjoy it, rather than moving away and leaving behind the mess they made.

Why you gotta... I mean... Let them think what they're gonna think.
1
@javierclyburn5688 That's a self-fulfilling prophecy. People convince themselves and each other that voting is pointless. Then, they don't vote, so they can't possibly get the result they want. Then, they claim that's somehow proof that the system is rigged.

@gregthompson8062 True. Everyone should move to California. It's so beautiful and warm. It's really the greatest State in the Union. The mass exodus is really just a Fox News conspiracy theory. I mean, California is so amazing that the nation's homepess flock to it, because they would rather be homeless in California than anywhere else. Everybody, pay attention. Move to California. It's called the Golden State for a reason. You'll never be happier living anywhere than you will be in California. By the way, if any of you are interested in buying a house in California, you just go ahead and let me know. You know...for the statistics.

And if you don't have the money, Northern California is the best place to retire.
1
@willtwain1383 Personally? No, I don't have a city. Does Northern California have a city? Yes. Several.
1
@willtwain1383 What do you mean by "dives?"
1
@willtwain1383 I don't know of any cities that are free from rundown areas, anywhere in the Country. NorCal technically includes Sacramento and above. Thqt includes places like Redding, Chico, etc. I don't know if you consider them to be rundown. They have worse neighborhoods and better neighborhoods, and they're continually updating, expanding, and beautifying.

Okay but besides the Japan comparieon, expensive compared to what? California? New York?
