PG&E cut power in my town for several days, once. Gas powered cars and generators were how we got through it. Several of us lent and donated generators to people who couldn't afford them. We wouldn't have been able to do that with solar arrays and battery banks. We gave each other rides in cars we were filling with gas cans, rather than sitting around, waiting for EV batteries to charge. Electric isn't there yet and I have no intention of moving backwards, while waiting for it to catch up.

@libertarian4323 I can't lend a solar array and battery bank to a neighbor down the street. I lent out two generators. I'm sorry you wasted so many keystrokes responding to something I didn't say.

@gregkramer5588 As opposed to those of us who have inverters in our gasoline vehicles...that we don't have to use for appliances because we have gas generators? Yes, I suppose you could run a cord from your car to your house and reduce the range of your vehicle but why? There are much better options.
