  1. When you try to stand on the necks of free people, they will fight back. It's a very simple rule and one that has repeated throughout history. We already saw the results of "Show us your papers." It was not a method of governance that the people preferred. A police state only serves to encourage violence. Why any government doesn't know this by now is beyond me.

  2. Everything teeters on the consent of the governed. When you lose that, you've lost control. I don't know if you know this but historically, the masses who have overthrown their own governments were made up mostly of people with little formal education. In other words, you're wrong.

  3.  @minimushrom  Okay, you were making sense until you claimed that Omicron was going to make it difficult for medical systems to cope. There have been plenty of cases of it at this point. The data shows that it has not caused a single death in the over forty Countries where it has been found. They can't even manage to co me up with any number of severe cases worth talking about. Even the news sites that love causing fear will mention that Omicron is spreading and then quickly switch to talking about how many people Delta is killing. At this point, I'm comfortable predicting that Omicron is our savior variant. Yes, it will blow through the population at a record pace...and kill/disable virtually nobody. It will infect the vaccinated and the unvaccinated alike, because the vaccines aren't doing much of anything to prevent this one. Most everyone will build more than just antibodies for COVID-19 because of Omicron. We'll all get those good T-cells and lasting cellular memory that makes vaccine boosters pointless (not that there's really any point to them against Omicron, anyway). Thanks to Omicron, there's a very real chance of us reaching herd immunity and returning to normal lives. That idea displeases certain people. Those people can take their $36,000,000,000/year honey pot and use it as a suppository for all I care. They did their job. They made their money. Now it's time for them to get out of the way.
