A bold stance? Are you kidding? Nobody is responsible for your safety but you. That's a fact that has been backed up by the Supreme Court. You are your only defense in this world. There's nothing bold, radical, or edgy about that. This Sheriff is telling people the truth of the matter. The police are not your security guards. They carry guns primarily to protect themselves and secondarily to protect others - if they happen to be in the area when an attack is happening. Most of what they do is showing up after you've been victimized, to collect evidence and file a report. This shouldn't shock anyone, as it has been that way for a long, long time. Protect your life, liberty, and property. Chances are pretty good that you're the only one who will.
