Left follow advice from experts in the field, only a fool would disregard the advice and try to experiment with logic after its already been done and peer reviewed. You can't rationally think about what experts know unless you have experience in the field of study you are trying to rationally think through. This is why the dunning Kruger effect is relevant The more you o Know about science the less you actually know about.

A government can try to force a mask on or off it's about enforcement. The difference is what you do to coerce the otheŕ. If you build a ideology based on lies then your ideas will be easily torn down. Two ways to demonstrate this, if you are a flat earther you must deny conventional wisdom I.e. expert advice. Another is thinking that individualism is key is going to be easy to undo due to the contradictory nature when most societies are collectivist for social cohesion and pro expansionism the very tenets of international capitalism is the free flow of goods, protectionism is antithetical to this and favours home grown produce to imported products.
