  1. Why is that a problem? Sales suggest that this isnt a problem with this kind of design philosophy. All the Germans do this to a good extent. It strengthens brand identity and signature design langauge of the company. I dont see it as a problem since if they differed in design and say you didnt like the design of the e class you would have to give up the e class and its better interior for a c class if not another company alltogether whereas here you don't. Furthermore these cars are not meant to be attention seaking or flashy.. They are meant to be under the radar... Hence the concept of stealth wealth. By looking similar to each other this helps the car blend in and thus allows it to go under the radar. So I dont see this as a problem. This isnt the first time Mercedes is doing this, they have done it many times before in the past and its worked out very well for them. Also its only e and c class that look really similar. S class looks very different. Because while they all share similar design language no doubt they are still very much distinguishable. If you couldn't already tell by the massive size difference the s class has a completly different front grill. S class has triple curve lights, e class 2 and c class one. S class has three tail light's while e and c have 2. They all have different front and rear diffusers from each other. S class also has more chrome and more pronounced depth and proportions especially for its light carvings and shoulder's. So while there is undoubtedly a similar design language amongst the three they are still very much distinguishable, especially interior wise..... and as sales suggest consumers are overall happy with this kind of philosophy so I dont see it as a problem just as audi and BMW have also found success from it.
