Both that and the fact it was the first to be not just a prototype but a legit car that was sold to the public and practical not like slow bulky batteries or steam engines. And electric cars still have a long way before they completely take over. ice cars are still in the vast majority today and will be for a very long time.

However Mercedes did in fact invent the worlds first modern automobile and abs among other things. So have some respect instead of this toxic hatred.   11. Ed So it depends on your definition of car. Steam cars were not practical. Neither were the other cars that followed and they were a prototypes. Karl Benz built the worlds first modern practical car... The one that most likely you and everyone are using today...... So by that definition he is considered the inventor of the car because he built the firsr modern automobile that was practical and was sold to the public... So he literally kick started the automobile industry that started today. And ofcourse Mercedes is very proud of this history as they should be so ofcourse they would talk about it. Most people agree that the worlds first car refers to the one that we know, love and actually use today that was actually built and sold to the market. So by definition this makes the car in the video the worlds first car. It was the first car that was actually sold to the public which by definition kick started the auto industry. And in that respect it is the worlds first car.

  14. HL65536 no. The main point is that it was the first practical commercially sold car to the public which happens to be the one which most of us have been using for 100 years to this day. The one you linked is a steam car. Steam cars are not practical. Which is why the second the gasoline combustion car came along the steam car was never used again. In comparison the gasoline car hasn't had another car come after it that is any where near as practical as it. Electric cars will be the new era of cars. But gasoline cars were the worlds first modern automobiles. They begun the era. Electric cars will start a new one.

No bmw can touch let alone compete with those car. Mercedes is also wins f1 champions unlike bmw that left. It also has a variety of veichles like g class and 6x6 which are unique.
