Where Lexus is better in reliability Mercedes kicks Lexus's ass when it comes to luxury, confort, technology, features, luxurious amenities, etc etc which more than make up for not being as reliable as the Lexus. All of which more than makes up for not being as reliable as Lexus. If you want to jack off to reliability then go buy an Avalon.... Reliability all comes down to how you take care of it. They are reliable if you take care of them. Expensive to maintain sure. But that doesn't mean they are not reliable. Those are two different things. And you're an utter moron if you compare German reliability to korean cars. The technology, comfort, build quality , luxurious amenities, features performance etc more than makes up for not being as reliable as Lexus. This doesn't take away from the fact that Germans are very reliable. Germany isn't caving to the third world. And Japan is great but they also have their faults... Especially a major suicide problem.

J J also its the Lexus trying to be like the merc not the other way around. That's why Lexus is refered to as the Japanese Mercedes. Not the other way around. So its the prince trying to be like the King. Hence S class is the King of premium luxury car segment.

The reality is that many owners don't experience problems and any problems they do experience are neglible and minor. Otherwise no one would buy a Mercedes... Clearly this is not the case. You claim to refer to statistics but you didn't even site them. What's more you didn't address my point against your statistics you claimed. Well you were comparing it... Because you started talking about luxury saloons then immediately said that an mx5 is more fun to drive.... So you made a comparison between which is more fun to drive. Which let's be honest is a really dumb comparison. No crap ofcourse a smaller mx5 which is more nimble is going to be more fun to drive. That couldn't be more obvious. Luxury saloons of this size are not meant to be fun to drive, they are meant to be relaxing to both drive and sit in.... Its about ultra luxury and comfort not fun to drive. So you can't even begin to compare vastly different cars kn such a way.... Hence why I said that you are comparing apples to oranges. And I get that its your opinion no problem but opinions should be based on some kind of logical reasoning. Comparing two different things is not very logical/reasonable. Statistics alone don't speak for reliability as a whole. One statistics are only taken of a small sample which can never fully represent or speak for all owners. Two there is nothing stopping people from outright lying or getting bribed to say certain things and avoid saying other things.... So there is a ton of skepticism surrounding statistics. If you want to see a cars reliability then let the car speak for itself. Mercedes are used as taxis... And the taxi industry relies and depends heavily on the reliablity of its fleet otherwise its business would significantly suffer. So Mercedes have to be reliable. Furthermore Mercedes also build trucks which is also an industry that depends heavily on reliablity. So Mercedes have to be reliable. They are notorious especially for their bullet proof engines. And to this day you see many old Mercedes driving to this day. More so than you do than Lexus for example. This is a testament to the reliablity of Mercedes veichles. So Mercedes are reliable if you take care of them with all this physical proof you can see in front of your own eyes.

Many people own and drive not only 3 year old s classes but even 4, 5 6 7 heck even 10 + year old s classes. Thats why you see far more old Mercedes driving on the road than you do old Lexus.

Quirinus Jr your argument is really flawed. By your own logic then you shouldn't be wasting your money on the lexus when you can get a much cheaper toyota Avalon thats fully equipped (much more generously equipped) and its also way more reliable than the lexus as well. So need to waste money on the ls when the Avalon is better according to your own logic. The s class is light years more technologically advanced, has more features, has better build quality options, is more comfortable, has more luxurious amenities, is quitter , has a better transmission... And I am not even scratching the surface.... All of these more than make up for not being as reliable as the lexus and justify its price big time.

Objectivly speaking s class is the better car. Period. Its not just my opinion. Its based on facts. S class is more technologically advanced, more comfortable, more luxurious, has more features, has more luxurious amenities, is safter, is quited, has better transmission, etc etc. These are facts. Not just my opinion but the facts and consensus of many customers and journalists. Plus the s class out sells the Ls like big time. S class is the better car despite being released 4 years earlier. Its the car that sets the benchmark and segment and every other car trys to follow. That's why Lexus had to take nearly 4 years to finally come out with the ls and still couldn't beat the s class. You can't beat the Germans at their own game. S class is the 911 of luxury cars. I'm a merc fan but not a die bard one. There are plenty of other cars I would prefer over their respective merc models. You should leave because you asked me to leave when you should be looking in the mirror before you ask that. Three it is light years ahead of lexus in technolog. It has more features and luxurious amenities than lexus. Its more comfortable, more luxurious,.... Etc etc... Theres also the fact that it comes as a coupe, cabriolet, amg 63, 65, brabus, maybach, pullman limo, emperor whereas Lexus ls only comes as a sedan and coupe if you sound the lc500. So customers choose whether they want to have leather on certain areas of the car or not like the dash. So if a s class is not equipped with leather dash thats because the person didn't spec it that way. Some people don't need leather dash because one they never touch the dash, you look at the dash you don't touch it and two some customers don't like how animals are killed just for skin.
