Buran01 not sure what you mean specifically by 4x4. S class has the vectoring if you get certain versions of the s class. S class has adaptive suspension well before Audi even knew it existed.... As last of Mercedes magic body control. It will scan the road ahead for bumps and prepare the suspension ahead if time to absorb them... So you can even go over a speed bump and not know it. So nothing new there. Mercedes had it before. If you said before facelift then yes a8 would have more technology but even the prefacelift s class had 90% of what the new a8 has... So with the facelift they filled in the other 10% and then some. Better interior? Nope. Merc interior looks more elegant ehikr Audi looks more business like and more futuristic. However Unlike piano finish Mercedes dash is covered with leather and has wood trim too.... Not to mention its more comfortable. However both cars have great interiors so it depends on your preferences. S class looks more inviting and a caccons you with luxury. Audi looks like it has a more business vibe to it (which is not bad BTW) Model s is a Tesla. This is an s class. You don't even know the name of this car and yet you are making claims. No Mercedes is still ahead but the gap has been significantly reduced as the others have caught up. During the time though that the others were catching up Mercedes was preparing the new s class already... So they are still ahead in that respect. No they are not thrash. The new continental is beautiful and a major step up from Bentley but still many are skeptical about exterior design (especially the rear end) also... Continental is a coupe not a sedan. And while its a major major step up and beautiful interior design its still behind big time..... A8 and s class are light years ahead if technology of the Bentley and have far more features and luxurious amenities too. I am talking about Bentley mulsanne... So from this perspective not only are they in the same league but they are in many ways better. Not to mention how Mercedes has maybach trim level which further ups the quality to not only compete with Bentley but blow it out of the water especially considering what you get for the price you are paying for each car.

If they are near identical then by your own logic all bmws and all audis are near identical and people won't know the difference. See that shows you don't understand. Plus there is a new s class already on the way so by your own logic it will by default be better. Sure a8 looks more futuristic (in the right trim) and it looks very business kikeband sharp but s class looks far more elegant and classic like a land yacht which is a much more appealing design IMO. But hey to each their own I guess.

Igor Coric They are not unnecessary. They are FEATURES. With that logic you can go on a rant about how lots of things are uncessary. "Heated and cooling seats" are not neccesarry. This is just not true. They set the car apart from anything else out there .. They make it more unique, and more convinient and safer for the passenger and drivers. And when you are spending that kind of money it is neccesary to justify the price. Your complaints are incredibly narrow minded and vague... WhY do you mean stiff on steering wheel???? What about the big round button? The idea of these high end premium luxury cars is this... A rich person typically has a luxurious home.... You complain about screens yet the Audi looks like an utter mess and jungle of touch screens. The point of putting them side by side is to give the dash a one complete look. This makes it very special and unique and stands out from any other car. It allows the lines to flow in one motion giving it a much more elegant look. It also keeps all the information up front at your eye level without having to sperate it. Its not stupid. You are just a salty hater that can't handle its the best interior in the business. Not just I say this but many journalists as well. Sure screens could be better by for instance being frameless but as a whole the interior looks very nice and gorgeous.

TheClubshaker you're an idiot. Part of it is to fix faults but the main point of face lifting a car is to freshin it up a bit and install major updates.... And that's exactly what they did.... .. Like the updated autonomous system from Mercedes just to name one example. So no it wasn't riddled with faults. What happened is that Mercedes came out nearly 4 years before the 7 series and a8... So bmw and Audi had the time to study the s class and take notes and include more technology most of which the s class already had. So eventually there are major updates with the tech like the autonomous tech that Mercedes did to still stay on top.

TheClubshaker well this car isn't outdated at all. Germans are not slow. They do it right. So that when they do a new model its a serious major step up. Other companies do baby steps releasing a new model every year or two. Germans take baby steps in research and then for nre model leap years into the future. So the germans are actually ahead of their time. They are light years abead of the others...performance technology etc. They face lift it in the same way any other company continues to improve their car. Every car has faults. Stop bs'ing. Even toyota do recalls and facelifts to improve the faults of the last one. Just like a human... It grows older... Gets wiser (more technology) and gets a slightly different look ( for example smoother skin)... And then there are new models. For example where you go from your teen to adult looks.... The build quality of the maybach is far superior to them.... So much so that you can even get alligator skin if wised! 7 series has better infotainment system but that doesn't take away from how good the s class's infortainment system is which is more than enough and more than what you need. Besides you don't buy these kinds of cars just for the infotainment system. Looks are subjective... You are a Mercedes hater so that's what you will say no surprise. For me s class looks the most elegant and classy. A8 looks the sharpest, business like and futuristic and bmw looks macho and buff like. They all look nice just in different ways. S class has three curve headlights, e class 2 and c class one respectively. S class has three tail lights whereas e and c class have two. Not to mention their interiors are night and day difference apart....and the s class also has a lot more chrome and more depth to its proportions and body work (and more carvings for its lights). They also have different front and rear diffuses from each other. So yes they undeniably share similar design language with each other however they are still very much distinguishable. And frankly there is nothing wrong with this kind of design philosophy as sales suggest. Audi, porsche and bmw do this too. You could argue that 5 series looks like mini 7 series or that audi a3 looks like a4 with different lights. or that panemera looks like 4 door 911. This kind of design language strengthens brand identity and it keeps customers to the company......for example.....say you are wanting to buy the e class but it looks completly different to the c class and you don't like the c class....you might in that case give up the e class's better interior and go for the c class if not go for another car company all together. So this allows you to not have to make such large sacrifices. Furthermore these cars are not supposed to be flashy. They are meant to be under the radar....hence the concept of stealth wealth, so by looking similar to each other it helps them to blend in and thus achieve that concept. So overall its not as much as you are over exaggerating it and its not a bad thing as you seem to imply it to be. Look dude I love both 7 sereis and audi 8 and i think they killed it with their cars, they are very lovely but as great as they are they still don't quite match the s class. However they are very close. There is also nothing preventing people to straight up lie or complain about something that is the fault of their own ignorance consumer reports.
