  4.  @diegolove173  They did it to save the economy, without the Banking sector the economy cannot function. Very few Banks were actually bailed out, HSBC the UK's biggest wasn't.

  13. Well done, peace of mind is something its hard to put a price on. Overpaying makes absolute sense. I repaid my mortgage at age 46 and retired at 50 which was my goal.

  14. The Government didn't do it for free, they took a stake in the Banks they bailed out, they now part own them. LLoyds repaid its bailout several years ago, only RBS now remains.

  19. The only Bank that still has to repay its bailout is RBS. Most banks didn't need it. They are businesses not charities.
