  1. Even if you are correct, how does help when it now cost significantly more each month to buy the same house, with a lower mortgage, for 10% less. Other than a cash buyer or one who needs a small mortgage, everyone else is worse off !

  3. What incentive is there for house builders to build more homes at the present time ? Very little if none at all, so they will just still on the land until things improve. The shortage of houses will just be exacerbated.

  4.  @oldshiny3012  Very unlikely, unless you are cash buyer or only need a small mortgage. Everyone else with a mortgage will be paying much more each month, even with a smaller mortgage, assuming they can still get one. Lenders will be very much stricter, deposits needed will be higher.
