  3. It happened in the UK too but as usual the market bounced back. This is nothing that hasn't happened before, the difference is that shortage of houses is greater now.There will always be those who can afford them.

  4. Very sensible. If you have the ability to make lump sum reductions to your existing mortgage you should. Whilst I believe that rates will be lower than today by 2026, ultra low rates are over.

  10. Not sure I follow your logic. Rent has everything to do with the price the market will bear, if you won't pay someone else probably will particularly when there is shortage of properties for rent.

  18. Why not rent it until the market improves ? Alternatively live in it yourself. Lots of options, don't be a desperate seller.

  21. Really, I'm prepared to bet my house it won't. A small correction at worst, we all need somewhere to live and there is a shortage of properties. As developers are building less, the shortage will only increase.

  22. Assuming you already have somewhere to live, invest your inheritance in something like an NSI fixed rate account for at least a year (currently paying 6.2%) and watch the market. NSI is Government backed, so all your money is protected. Im a retired senior banker and its what I would do in your circumstances.

  26.  @pabloes588  As a retired senior banker I really don't follow your logic. The UK has a housing shortage and as developers are building less the situation will only get worse. There will always be those who can afford to buy houses.

  27. Depends entirely on your circumstances. If you are living with your parents paying very little housekeeping, perhaps tie up your deposit on a 12 months fixed account at @6% and wait for a year.
