  1. Whilst I agree with the objective of increasing growth, I would have left income tax rates unchanged but increased personal allowances and cut VAT by 5%. This way more people, particularly lower earners would have benefited much more.

  9. The top 1% of earners pay 38% of all income tax, you do know this. The lower 50% of earners pay in total just 10% of all income tax.

  11. The person gaining £55k is far more likely to spend some or all of it, creating growth in the economy.There is a logic to it, although I would have simply left tax rates alone and increased personal allowances for all. The former is however much cheaper to do.

  12. Im an ordinary person in the process of buying a house and will save £2500 on Stamp Duty, which isn't life changing but very welcome.
