  3. I was the first year that had to wait until age 66 to receive a state pension. I was born 12 days too late. I also retired at 50 and had confirmation from HMRC that I had made 30 years contributions and would get a full State pension. This then changed in 2016 and it became necessary to have 35 years contributions. Despite making a further 2 years contributions I then had to buy an additional 3 years contributions at a cost of @ £ 3200 to ensure i received a full State Pension. The break even period was @ 3 years so a worthwhile cost. Life isn't fair, you just have to make the best of it and be grateful for what you have, not bitter for what you don't..
