  3. The definition of a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative growth. The UK economy grew during the 2nd quarter of 2024 by 0.5%, the strongest quarterly growth since 2021.

  5. If as threatened Trump imposes a 20% import tax on all foreign goods sold in the US, it will have a huge impact on the UK economy and jobs will be lost. Already our growth forecasts have been downgraded.
