Comments by "jjeffery worboys" (@jjefferyworboys8138) on "Russell Brand and the assault on the presumption of innocence | The spiked podcast" video.
Brand has never tried to hide his bad behaviour towards women, he openly boasts about it in his book, he made himself a target. Are the allegations true, I don't know.

No one is ever found "Innocent" in court, the verdict is always "Not Guilty". Guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable double, if it can't then the verdict must be "Not Guilty".

@marcusoutdoors4999 Sadly there are miscarriages of justice, our legal system isn't perfect. Many more guilty people also go free because guilt couldn't be established beyond a reasonable doubt. A friend had been warned by his barrister to expect a custodial sentence because he was genuinely guilty, but it was his lucky day when the Police failed to attend court so there was no case to answer.

A not guilty verdict in a criminal court isn't saying a person is innocent, just that guilt couldn't be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. In a civil court the threshold of proof is set much lower and it's a very expensive process. Whilst a criminal court could find Brand not guilty a civil court may not necessarily find in his favour.

I agree. Did you post the same comment in defence of Huw Edwards ?

Im sorry, Huw Edwards was never arrested or charged and his alleged victim issued a denial. Youtubers were happy to crucify. What happened to "Innocent until proven Guilty " or does that only apply when it's someone you like ?
1
Did you rush to Huw Edwards the BBC newsreaders defence so enthusiastically ? Youtubers happily pronounced him guilty and destroyed his life.
1
Probably the most perceptive comment here. Well said.

How true and if you don't happen to like someone there is the automatic presumption of guilt.
1
But perfectly acceptable for Huw Edwards the BBC Newsreader just a short time ago. Youtubers happily pronounced him guilty and destroyed his life. Trail by media seems ok when you don't happen to like the person ?

Huw Edwards was crucified on YouTube and the so called victim issue a denial.

@lancewalker2595 Huw Edwards ?

They didn't do the same for Huw Edwards the BBC newsreader, even after his alleged victim issued a denial. It seems they only apply this to people they like.

@helenablavatsky9136 However in a criminal court the verdict is either Guilty or Not Guilty, it's never Innocent. Guilt must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt which is a very high threshold.
1
The BBC Newsreader that Youtubers were happy to pronounce guilty even after his alleged victim issued a denial.

Did you post a similar comment in support of Huw Edwards ?
1
If you can't beat them join them and bring about change from the inside.
1
Very naive comment.

Huw Edwards was crucified on YouTube and his so called victim issued a denial. Double standards ?
1
When have we not, it's happened throughout this countries history.
1
What a bummer ! In a criminal court it's Guilty or Not Guilty, never Innocent. Guilt must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt which is a very high threshold.

So you would have been happy for Rolf Harris to walk free, how about Jimmy Saville had he lived ?
